Nigerian businesswoman Grace Makun has stirred a conversation online after questioning the type of items parents now include in children’s party packs.

Makun, who is married to celebrity fashion designer Yomi Casual, expressed surprise over the shift from toys to food items in birthday party packs given to children during celebrations.

In a post shared on social media, the entrepreneur recalled that party packs used to contain toys, educational materials and small treats for children. However, she noted that many parents now include food items instead.

According to her, the packs now contain items such as Indomie noodles, bags of rice, sugar, Milo, Maggi seasoning and cereals, which she said makes them look more like charity packages than children’s party gifts.

“Party packs be looking like a charity project. What happened to toys? Educational resources, simple treats and so on?” she wrote.

Makun further questioned whether there had been a new trend she was unaware of, adding that she might have missed the change while being away from social media discussions.

“What is going on? Someone should update me please. I have been missing a lot on this Obasanjo internet lately. Is this the new update? Did someone announce something a few of us didn’t hear well?” she added.
