The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Badagry Unit Command, Lagos, has urged road users to support efforts to reduce accidents on the state’s highways.
Unit Commander, Mr Yusuf Sanni, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Badagry.
He emphasised that road safety is a collective responsibility, calling for all hands to be on deck to ensure safety on Nigerian roads.
“The unit command runs an open-door policy. Anyone with positive ideas on reducing road crashes in Badagry is always welcome,” Sanni said.
Addressing an online allegation involving a commercial driver on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, he dismissed the claim as false and misleading.
“While on special patrol on Friday along Mowo-Badagry Expressway, a commercial bus drove dangerously towards our team.
“In an attempt to stop him, the driver initially refused but eventually halted. His side mirror broke, injuring a passenger inside the vehicle.
“The injured person received prompt hospital care. Both the driver and his son later visited the command to show appreciation,” Sanni said.
He urged road transport unions to educate members on obeying traffic rules, noting it will help maintain safe roads for everyone.
“I also call on all motorists to cooperate with our officers during lawful duties on highways,” Sanni said.
