According to Abraham, celebrities should be careful about publicly declaring support for political candidates, as it can attract backlash from fans and affect their careers.

“The first advice I will give you in my entire life is, don’t put your mouth in politics. Don’t tell them you’re supporting anybody. Don’t support anybody, just be on your own. Be neutral,” she said.

When Egbuson reminded her of her past endorsement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the election, the actress dismissed it, saying, “That was then.”

She, however, admitted that the decision eventually affected her professionally.

“Haaaaaaa, it affected me oooo,” Abraham exclaimed while explaining how the situation impacted her career.

The actress had earlier faced backlash from some social media users following her public support for Tinubu during the election period. Some critics allegedly boycotted her films and circulated pirated versions of her 2023 movie, Malaika, on WhatsApp.

At the time, Abraham also complained about negative reviews of the movie, questioning why her choice of candidate should be considered a crime.

“You all will tell the world why choosing my own candidate is a crime and yours is not,” she had said.
