‘I supported Obi in 2023 as Igbo, now I regret it’ – Chief Priest says, urges Igbos to back Tinubu

We Igbos are the people that were defeated during the war and it has not been easy for us in Nigeria since then. That is why we want to be smart this time around so we can get what we want. We do not want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again,” he added.
Socialite Cubana Chief Priest has urged Igbo voters to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, admitting that his choice in 2023 to back Peter Obi was a mistake.
Speaking at a City Boy Movement (CBM) rally in Imo State, the nightlife entrepreneur said he aligned with Obi during the 2023 election to identify as an “Igbo boy,” but now considers that stance “foolish.”
“At the past election, I did not support Tinubu because I wanted to be an Igbo boy by supporting Peter Obi and I made some careless mistakes. I was a fool then but not anymore now,” he said.
Cubana highlighted the need for Igbo people to be strategic with their votes, pointing to historical and political grievances. “We Igbos are the people that were defeated during the war and it has not been easy for us in Nigeria since then. That is why we want to be smart this time around so we can get what we want. We do not want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again,” he added.
The socialite also emphasised family ties with the Tinubu camp, noting that President Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, is married to an Igbo woman. “He is our brother and our own,” Cubana said.
In February, Cubana had previously called on the South-East to back Tinubu’s re-election, expressing hope that the president would eventually hand over power to an Igbo leader. He currently serves as the Imo director of CBM, a youth-oriented support group for Tinubu’s 2027 campaign
