The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr Richard Pheelangwah, has urged the Military Pensions Board (MPB) to ensure retired military personnel receive their pensions without delay.
Speaking during a visit to the MPB headquarters in Abuja, Pheelangwah described veterans as a “valuable national asset” and stressed that “timely and accurate pension administration is both a moral obligation and a national responsibility.”
He warned that delays could have serious consequences for retirees and their families, adding that the Board should continually improve its systems to guarantee smooth disbursement of pensions and gratuities.
Pheelangwah affirmed the ministry’s full backing of the Board, noting that “efficient pension administration is a key component of the welfare architecture that sustains both serving and retired military personnel.”
In response, MPB Chairman AVM Mikail Abdullraheem pledged the Board’s “unwavering commitment to serving retirees,” as the team toured the Board’s departments, including Information and Communications, Archives, and Directorate services.
