Police operatives in Ondo have arrested one Johnson Daniel for allegedly stabbing his friend, Ariyo Amos Timilehin, to death in Owo town, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The two young men said to be close friends and were frequently seen together around in their neighbourhood in Owo town.
However, police said preliminary investigation indicated that the Timilehin was allegedly stabbed during an argument with Daniel and was confirmed dead at the hospital he was rushed to.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Ondo command’s spokesperson, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Akure.
“The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026.
“Timilehin was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
“Police detectives visited the scene and recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack, while the suspect has been arrested.
“The case has, since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation,” he said.
The spokesperson, who said the Ondo Police Command commiserated with the family of the deceased, urged the public to avoid violence in resolving disputes.
