EPL: Tottenham fight back to earn crucial point in Liverpool

Liverpool

Quick Read

The goal gave interim Tottenham manager Igor Tudor his first point since taking charge, though his position at the club remains uncertain.

Tottenham managed to earn a crucial point at Anfield as Richarlison scored a dramatic 90th-minute equaliser to level the match against Liverpool 1-1.

The goal gave interim Tottenham manager Igor Tudor his first point since taking charge, though his position at the club remains uncertain.

The goal came after substitute Randal Kolo Muani cleverly held off Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and passed the ball to Richarlison, who calmly slotted it past his international teammate Alisson Becker.

Tudor celebrated wildly, running along the touchline, but Tottenham still face tough times as they try to climb away from the relegation zone.

Liverpool had taken the lead earlier in the 18th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai scored a stunning 25-yard free-kick. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was unable to keep it out despite getting a full hand to the ball.

Szoboszlai has now scored four direct free-kicks this Premier League season, the most by any Liverpool player in a single campaign. Only David Beckham (2000-01) and Laurent Robert (2001-02) have scored more in a season.

Despite taking the lead, Liverpool struggled to create clear chances from open play. Fans expressed their frustration at the final whistle, highlighting their dissatisfaction with another underwhelming performance from manager Arne Slot’s side.

Former Everton striker Richarlison’s equaliser added to the disappointment for the home fans.

Tottenham were forced to cope without 12 key players due to injuries and suspensions, including their main central defenders.

They had just seven substitutes available, only two of whom were senior outfield players. This made the point at Anfield even more valuable for the struggling London club.

Liverpool made three substitutions Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, and Curtis Jones but it failed to change the game. Tottenham continued to press and take advantage of Liverpool’s defensive vulnerability, eventually earning the late equaliser that rescued a point.
