The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a targeted operation in Keana Local Government Area.
The raid was carried out at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Gidan Akuya village following credible intelligence, according to Police Public Relations Officer Ramhan Nansel.
“Upon sighting the operatives, the criminals attempted to flee the scene but were immediately pursued by the police,” Nansel said.
During the operation, 43-year-old Jibril Yunusa was arrested. A search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one empty magazine, and a locally fabricated rifle.
Nansel added that the suspect confessed to involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents across the Keana and Awe axis and provided information to assist ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, directed operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend other gang members who escaped during the raid.
He commended the police operatives for their professionalism and reassured residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
