Applicants must meet these requirements:
Be a U.S. citizen
Be between 20 and 40 years old
Have a valid driver’s license
Pass medical checks and background investigations
Be able to obtain Top Secret security clearance
Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
Be in good physical condition
Citizenship can be through birth in the United States, U.S. citizen parents, or naturalization.
Job Responsibilities
Officers in the Uniformed Division help protect important government locations and officials. Their duties include protecting:
The White House
The Vice President’s residence at the United States Naval Observatory
The United States Department of the Treasury Building
Foreign embassies in Washington, D.C.
Officers may also help protect the President of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, and visiting foreign leaders.
They can also work in specialized teams such as:
Counter Sniper units
Emergency Response teams
K-9 units
Hiring Process
Applicants must pass several stages, including:
Entrance examinations
Interviews
Background checks
Physical fitness tests
Training
Successful candidates will complete:
13 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC)
18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Maryland
Salary and Bonus
New officers will earn between $77,987 and $134,165 per year, depending on experience and career progression.
The $75,000 recruitment incentive will be paid in installments over four years, depending on training completion and continued service.
