The actress revealed that she underwent a medical procedure to stop herself from having more children because she did not want a large family.

Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has opened up about a major personal decision she made years ago regarding childbirth.

The actress revealed that she underwent a medical procedure to stop herself from having more children because she did not want a large family.

Bello made the disclosure during a conversation about motherhood on her YouTube channel, Shaffy Bello TV, where she discussed her experiences as a mother and the choices she made about family planning.

According to the actress, she decided to tie her fallopian tubes about 26 years ago after making up her mind that she did not want to have many children.

She explained that although her former husband wanted them to expand their family, she was firm in her decision to stop having more children.

“My ex-husband had to beg me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” she said.

The thespian further explained that the procedure was carried out through her navel, where doctors tied her fallopian tubes, permanently preventing her from becoming pregnant.

Describing the process, Bello said the doctors went through her navel to perform the operation and then tied her tubes, effectively stopping the release of eggs required for pregnancy.

“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs,” she said.

The actress noted that she had always been certain about the kind of family she wanted and did not feel pressured to have more children than she desired.

She jokingly added that after undergoing the procedure, if she ever became pregnant again, she would consider it a miracle.

“I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary, it’s a holy child,” Bello said.
