The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

The Federal Government has announced that Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, will be public holidays to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, the festival that marks the end of the Ramadan fast.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

The minister congratulated Muslims for successfully completing the Ramadan fast. He encouraged them to continue practicing good values such as love, kindness, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice, which are important during the holy month.

He also urged all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the country’s peace, unity, and progress.

Tunji-Ojo advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember to help people in need during the celebrations.

He added that the Federal Government remains committed to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.
