Obasanjo, Jonathan, Shettima attend Soludo’s swearing-In ceremony

Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, were among top dignitaries who arrived at Chinua Achebe International Airport for the swearing-in of Chukwuma Soludo as he begins his second term in office.

The presence of these high-profile political figures highlights the importance of the event, which has attracted leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across the country.

Governor Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim, are scheduled to take the oath of office on Tuesday, officially marking the start of their new term.

The main inauguration ceremony is set to take place at Alex Ekwueme Square, where a large crowd is expected to gather to witness the occasion.

The event follows a series of pre-inauguration activities designed to celebrate the achievements of the first term and set the tone for the next four years.

Activities began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational church service held at the International Convention Centre.

The service brought together religious leaders, government officials, and residents, who offered prayers for peace, progress, and a successful second tenure for the administration.

As part of the inauguration lineup, a thanksgiving mass has also been scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, where further prayers will be offered in appreciation and hope for continued development in the state.

Meanwhile, security has been significantly strengthened across the state to ensure a smooth and incident-free ceremony.

Law enforcement agencies have been strategically deployed to key locations, including the airport, major roads, and the venue of the inauguration, to maintain order and protect attendees.
