Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has called on the Federal Government to introduce laws regulating pastors who claim to perform miracles, insisting that such acts should be subjected to strict verification.

In a video shared online, the outspoken musician argued that miracle claims should not go unchecked, proposing that they be tested and confirmed by medical professionals.

He specifically suggested that institutions like the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) be involved in verifying such claims.

Kuti maintained that any miracle performed must be consistently demonstrable under medical supervision, citing extreme cases such as restoring sight to individuals without eyeballs as the standard for proof.

According to him, anyone who claims to perform miracles but fails to substantiate them under proper medical scrutiny should face severe consequences.

“A law should be made to ensure that no one is allowed to perform miracles, and anyone caught claiming to perform a miracle should be sent to jail. The only exception would be if the miracle can be proven at LUTH,” he said.

He further suggested that such individuals should be required to perform the miracle multiple times under controlled conditions to validate their claims.

Kuti also proposed stiff penalties for offenders, recommending up to 50 years imprisonment for those unable to prove their alleged miracles.

“If a person is unable to perform the miracle, they should be sentenced to fifty years in prison,” he added.
