The Nigerian Presidency has debunked a viral screenshot claiming to show a tweet from US President Donald Trump criticising President Bola Tinubu over security in the North-East.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, took to X on Tuesday to label the circulating post “Fake!!!”, sharing an image of the doctored tweet for clarity.

The alleged message reportedly criticised Tinubu for attending a state visit to the United Kingdom while suicide bombings struck Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday evening. The fake tweet claimed the President had ignored the crisis, urging UK Prime Minister Rishi Starmer to intervene.

PM News independently confirmed that no such message exists on Trump’s verified accounts, including @realDonaldTrump or official White House channels.

The debunking comes amid intensified terrorist activity in Borno.

On Monday, multiple suicide bombings linked to Boko Haram/ISWAP hit crowded areas, including markets, a post office, and public facilities shortly after Iftar. Authorities confirmed at least 23 people were killed and over 100 injured.
