Nollywood actor, Aremu Afolayan, has publicly declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that his personal experience does not reflect the economic hardship many Nigerians are currently facing.

The actor made this known during a recent campaign gathering, where he defended the policies and leadership of the Tinubu administration amid growing public criticism over the country’s economic situation.

Afolayan dismissed widespread concerns about the rising cost of living, insisting that he is doing well personally and is not affected by the struggles often highlighted by Nigerians.

“When people say the country is hard, I don’t really care because I’m doing very well,” he said.

He also credited President Tinubu for improving Nigeria’s diplomatic relations, particularly referencing the lifting of travel restrictions previously imposed on Nigerians by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to him, Tinubu’s intervention played a key role in resolving the issue.

The actor further praised the president’s leadership style, describing it as one focused on unity and national progress, especially at a time when Nigeria is grappling with multiple challenges.

Speaking on security concerns, Afolayan downplayed reports of insurgency, suggesting that such narratives should not always be taken at face value.

“Nigeria has many problems, but most Nigerians seem more focused on criticizing him and his efforts. The good work President Tinubu is doing is why I support him. He is trying to unite Nigerians,” he added.

His comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his stance while others criticized his remarks as insensitive to the realities faced by many citizens.

Afolayan joins a growing list of entertainers who have openly expressed political support as conversations around the 2027 elections begin to gain momentum.
