“Every woman loves fashion,” she said. “By the time we became born again, it was a taboo for you to have them.” She revealed that a family friend had questioned her move, suggesting she could have handed the valuables to her mother to sell. But she refused.

Wife of renowned Nigerian cleric Enoch Adeboye, Foluke Adeboye, has revealed the drastic sacrifice she made after giving her life to Christ.

In a resurfaced throwback video now making the rounds online, Folu Adeboye recounted how her lifestyle took a sharp turn in the early days of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

According to her, she was deeply invested in fashion before becoming born again, owning several gold items, including jewellery she had already prepared for her child, who was under two years old at the time.

However, things changed after joining the church, where wearing such items was frowned upon.

Rather than keep or sell them, Folu said she made a shocking decision — she threw all her gold possessions into the lagoon.

“Every woman loves fashion,” she said. “By the time we became born again, it was a taboo for you to have them.”

She revealed that a family friend had questioned her move, suggesting she could have handed the valuables to her mother to sell. But she refused.

“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she stated.

Folu also recalled briefly switching to “copper” accessories as an alternative, admitting she spent heavily on them at the time.

Despite the extreme sacrifice, she insisted she has no regrets.

“What would I say I miss? Not much, I have already sold myself,” she added.
