Shettima storms Zamfara as APC welcomes Gov Lawal back

“Now that he has decided to return home, having been satisfied that the APC remains his second choice after the one he left for obvious reasons.”
Preparations are in full swing in Zamfara State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) readies itself for a high-profile political event, the formal reception of Governor Dauda Lawal into its ranks.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to lead the ceremony in Gusau next Tuesday, in what party leaders describe as a significant moment for the APC in the state.
The state party chairman, Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, disclosed the plan while addressing stakeholders, urging members to turn out in large numbers for the visit. He framed the development as a return rather than a new alignment.
“We all know that Zamfara has long been one of the APC’s stronghold states, where the defected Governor was once a bona fide member.
“Now that he has decided to return home, having been satisfied that the APC remains his second choice after the one he left for obvious reasons.”
Maikatako called on party faithful across all wards and local government areas to mobilise support for the occasion, stressing its importance ahead of future elections.
“As Chairman of the APC, I urge all our esteemed members across the 147 wards of the 14 local government areas in the state to come out en masse to honour the presidential visit, which is meant to strengthen and boost the popularity of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I also call on you to forget factionalism in the party and remain united. We are all politically one family that has many things in common, especially in our goal of making Zamfara and Nigeria great again.”
Echoing the appeal for unity, former state chairman Lawal M. Liman encouraged members to spread the message across their communities, emphasising cohesion as key to the party’s progress.
He maintained that the APC remained a shared platform for its members, bound by common aspirations for political success in the state and beyond.
