Following Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha’s first video interview since his release from prison, actress Iyabo Ojo has reacted sharply, warning him against involving her children in his public narrative.

In a statement addressing Baba Ijesha’s claims that she once trusted him with her children, Ojo said she has “no problem with him telling his side of the story” but stressed that “this is a notice to cease and desist from using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly.”

She clarified that her children have always been cared for by nannies or her late mother and were never left alone. “At my former business place in Ilupeju, I had multiple staff — stylists, sales reps — so it is unlikely I would be running errands. I can always send a worker if needed,” she added.

Ojo maintained that she has no objection to Baba Ijesha sharing his version of events, but warned against misleading the public with false claims about her family. “You were a senior colleague and nothing more. However, that 14-year-old was a minor, and sexual assault is never okay,” she said.

The reaction comes after Baba Ijesha claimed in an interview with Abiola Adebayo on the Talk to B show that his troubles began after a fallout with comedian Princess and that some witnesses later apologised to him in prison. He also expressed disappointment in Iyabo Ojo for allegedly believing the allegations against him and referenced her children in his remarks.

Ojo’s statement marks a firm rebuttal, insisting that her children should not be used in any narrative, while reiterating that sexual assault against minors is unacceptable.
