Nollywood actress and producer Debbie Shokoya has debunked viral reports alleging that Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere is her biological father.
The actress made the clarification in a video shared on her Instagram page, expressing frustration over the widespread misinformation. She stated that she has never met the veteran singer and did not make any of the statements being attributed to her online.
Describing the claim as completely false, Shokoya questioned the motive behind the report and criticized the rapid spread of unverified information across blogs and social media platforms.
“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father?” she said.
She further stressed that she bears a strong resemblance to her real father, dismissing the rumor as baseless.
The actress also lamented the negative impact of the false report, noting that it had triggered a wave of abusive comments directed at her by members of the public.
Shokoya urged bloggers and social media users to verify information before sharing, calling on those who circulated the claim to also publicize her denial with the same urgency.
“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news,” she added.
