The Police on Wednesday charged two women before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged abduction of a 13-year-old girl.

The defendants are: Funke Aire, 50 and Divine Richard, 27.

The duo whose addresses were not stated, are facing charges bordering on conspiracy and abduction.

They both, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the Court that the defendants committed the offences on March 12, at about 9:23 p.m. at Agbomimo by First Storey Building, in Badagry, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendants conspired to abduct a 13-year-old girl without her parents’ consent.

He said that the defendants were eventually apprehended by some people who handed them over to police for prosecution.

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 268 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendants bail in the sum N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

He ordered that one of the sureties must be a company director or a community leader.

The court adjourned the case until April 23, for mention.
