Yoruba Nollywood stars have taken to social media to celebrate filmmaker and producer Sunday Esan following the unveiling of a new film village in Ibadan.

The Chief Executive Officer of Okiki Films and Records International announced the development via his Instagram page, sharing photos and videos of the expansive project.

According to him, the film village is situated on seven acres of land at Idi Ori, Onidundu in Akinyele Local Government Area.

Describing the initiative as a major milestone for indigenous storytelling, Esan said the film village is designed to promote African culture and heritage through authentic film productions.

“A new chapter has begun for indigenous storytelling as Okiki unveils his Films Village — a sacred creative space rooted in African heritage and tradition,” he wrote.

He added that the facility, built with traditional architectural elements such as mud houses and cultural symbols, is intended to serve as a hub for epic productions that reflect African history, spirituality, and identity.

The announcement drew widespread praise from colleagues in the Yoruba film industry. Actors including Jamiu Azeez, Kolawole Ajeyemi, and Yetunde Bakare flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages, applauding the project as a significant contribution to the growth of Nollywood.

Other stars, including Jide Kosoko, also expressed admiration for similar initiatives within the industry, noting the importance of dedicated creative spaces in advancing Nigerian cinema.

The development comes amid a growing trend of filmmakers investing in film villages across Nigeria. Industry figures like Kunle Afolayan and Ibrahim Chatta have also established similar projects aimed at boosting production quality, preserving culture, and creating opportunities for local creatives.
