Why I’m afraid of marriage – Jason Derulo

American singer Jason Derulo has opened up about his personal life, revealing that he never imagined he would still be single at the age of 37.

The “Don’t Wanna Go Home” hitmaker made the disclosure during an interview with Graham Bensinger, where he reflected on how his experiences in relationships have reshaped his views on love and marriage.

Derulo, born Jason Joel Desrouleaux, admitted that his younger self had always envisioned settling down much earlier. However, life experiences and exposure to troubled relationships around him changed his outlook.

“I thought I was going to marry a lot of the girls I dated. Never in a million years did I think that I would be 37 and single,” he said.

The singer further explained that witnessing several relationship breakdowns and complicated situations made him more cautious about commitment.

“However, I have seen too much. I have seen too much in my life… married women leaving their spouses on the spot, leaving their men in the club. I have seen everything under the sun,” he added.

Derulo previously dated fellow singer Jordin Sparks for three years before their relationship ended in 2014. In 2021, he welcomed a son with his then-girlfriend Jena Frumes, but the couple split just months after the child’s birth.
