Nigeria’s Samson Adamu has been appointed as the Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), marking a significant step in his career in football administration.

He takes over from Veron Mosengo-Omba of DR Congo, who stepped down from the position to contest in the election for President of his country’s football governing body, the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA).

Before his new appointment, Adamu served as CAF’s Director of Competitions, where he played a key role in organizing and overseeing major continental tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations and inter-club competitions. His experience and leadership in managing football events have earned him respect within CAF and across African football circles.

Adamu is regarded as a seasoned administrator with a deep understanding of the game’s structure on the continent. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity and stability within CAF’s administration during this transition period.

He is the son of Dr. Amos Adamu, a former FIFA Executive Committee member who was banned from football in 2010 following a corruption scandal.

Despite this, Samson Adamu has built his own reputation in football governance through years of professional service and dedication.
