Operational report made available on Monday, revealed that the troops, acting on credible intelligence, intensified checkpoints and clearance operations across parts of Lokoja Local Government Area.
It said that troops deployed along the Jamata–Owara axis intercepted and apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics courier conveying supplies on a motorcycle.
According to the report, a search on the suspect led to the discovery of a modified fuel tank designed for concealing ammunition, as well as three mobile phones and a purchase receipt.
”Further exploitation of intelligence obtained from the suspect led troops to a suspected logistics exchange point. During the encounter, troops made contact with fleeing terrorists, neutralising one while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Items recovered from the scene include a motorcycle, pump-action belt with cartridges, charms, drinks, mobile phone, side bag, and a cash sum of ₦20,000,” it said.
The report also revealed that troops in a separate operation on the same day apprehended another suspected terrorist at Bakumba community in Lokoja Local Government Area.
It said the suspect was alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping and murder of a resident of the community.
”All arrested suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation and possible prosecution,” the report said.
It added that in other parts of the North Central, troops intensified operations, leading to the recovery of rustled livestock and swift response to attacks on civilian communities.
It said the troops operating along the Katsina–Kano border axis successfully intercepted suspected cattle rustlers during a fighting patrol on Sunday.
According to the report, the troops arrested two suspects and recovered 142 rustled cattle, alongside four mobile phones and a small solar panel believed to be used by the suspects.
”The suspects and recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation,” it said.
Military authorities assured residents of continued proactive operations to protect lives and property across the region.
