Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has spoken out against what she described as discriminatory treatment of women who visit clubs, bars, and hotels without male companions.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress called on feminists and advocates to join her in addressing the issue, which she said she has personally experienced on multiple occasions.
Etinosa revealed that during a difficult period in her marriage, she would often visit entertainment spots to ease emotional stress but was repeatedly denied entry by security personnel because she was alone.
According to her, such treatment highlights a double standard, as men are not subjected to similar restrictions when they visit these venues unaccompanied.
She questioned the rationale behind the practice, stressing that not all women who go out alone are involved in illicit activities.
The actress further urged society to reconsider such assumptions and treat women with fairness and respect, regardless of whether they are accompanied by men or not.
