A viral video showing Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, appearing to ignore her colleague, Toyin Abraham, at a film premiere has stirred fresh conversations within the entertainment space.
The incident occurred at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo, hosted by Iyabo Ojo, at the Balmoral Event Centre in Lagos.
In the footage circulating online, Abraham is seen approaching Akindele in an attempt to exchange greetings. Akindele, however, appears not to acknowledge her, maintaining her focus elsewhere.
Abraham subsequently moved on and greeted Ojo before leaving the immediate area.
The development has generated mixed reactions across social media, with observers offering varied interpretations of the moment.
While some viewed the interaction as a deliberate snub, others suggested it could have been a coincidental lapse, noting that the full context of the exchange remains unclear.
The video has, however, reignited discussions about a long-rumoured rivalry between the two actresses.
In 2024, Abraham addressed such speculations, attributing perceived tension between herself and Akindele to rumours and industry-driven competition. She noted at the time that both actresses had moved beyond such narratives, emphasising the possibility of coexistence without rivalry.
Talk of a strained relationship between the pair dates back to 2021, following the release of Abraham’s film The Ghost and the Tout Too, which drew comparisons between both actresses’ box office performances
