The former Rivers State governor dismissed speculations of secret endorsements for governorship and other elective positions, stressing that his position has remained consistent both publicly and privately.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said no candidate has been endorsed for any political office in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the only endorsement so far is for President Bola Tinubu.
Wike made the clarification on Monday night while addressing a joint meeting of stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor dismissed speculations of secret endorsements for governorship and other elective positions, stressing that his position has remained consistent both publicly and privately.
According to him, his current political commitment is focused solely on supporting Tinubu’s presidency, a stance he said he has never concealed.
He warned political aspirants against assuming that endorsements have been made, noting that no individual or sitting governor has the power to impose a candidate on Rivers State.
Wike also cautioned against internal divisions within the political bloc, stating that their strength lies in unity rather than personal ambition or financial influence.
“If we were not working together, if we were not united, it would be difficult. People are not happy that we are working together, so they will do anything to ensure we are divided,” he said.
The minister expressed concern over what he described as betrayal by some individuals who benefited from political appointments but have since turned against the group, warning that such actions would not succeed.
He maintained that the group’s collaboration across party lines has been instrumental in shaping current political developments and must be preserved.
Wike further commended council chairmen, Rivers elders, and party leaders for fostering inclusiveness, noting that the absence of complaints from stakeholders reflects the success of their coordination efforts.
