Iyabo Ojo breaks silence on Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham clash

“I tried my best, cried, knelt down and begged them to make peace. They agreed, which is why people saw them together again months ago. But they had a condition not to shade each other online. Unfortunately, things changed in December,” Iyabo explained.
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has said she is done meddling in the ongoing rift between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham after fresh drama at her movie premiere in Lagos.
The actress came under heavy criticism on social media after Funke appeared to snub Toyin at the premiere of her film, The Return of Arinzo, on Sunday.
Reacting, Iyabo said she had been unfairly attacked, insisting she played no role in the latest fallout.
“For those maligning my character and calling me unprintable names, this is for you,” she said.
Iyabo disclosed that her relationship with Funke dates back years, admitting they had their own issues in the past — including a time she publicly dragged the actress over Toyin’s movie.
“I once came online to drag Funke because of Toyin’s movie. That was wrong. I should have handled it better. We later made up and moved on,” she said.
Speaking further, Iyabo revealed she once stepped in to broker peace between Funke and Toyin, even going as far as pleading with both actresses to settle their differences.
According to her, the reconciliation came with a clear agreement — no social media shading, and all disputes to be handled privately.
That peace, however, did not last.
She traced the renewed feud to December 2025, when Toyin raised concerns about alleged attempts to sabotage her movie in cinemas — a claim that led fans to point fingers at Funke, reigniting tensions.
“I tried my best, cried, knelt down and begged them to make peace. They agreed, which is why people saw them together again months ago. But they had a condition not to shade each other online. Unfortunately, things changed in December,” Iyabo explained.
On why Toyin did not appear in her new movie, Iyabo said the actress was initially part of the project but pulled out at the last minute due to exhaustion and travel plans.
The development, she said, forced her to make costly adjustments to the film’s storyline.
“I was upset because it affected production and I had to rewrite parts of the story. But she later apologised and we settled,” she added.
Despite her efforts, Iyabo admitted she is now stepping back from the situation.
“Honestly, it saddens me because the sky is big enough for everyone. I’ve tried my best, but I can’t beg anyone anymore. I don’t want to get involved again,” she said.
She, however, maintained that she still holds both actresses in high regard and hopes they eventually resolve their differences.
