A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Akerejola Abiodun, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the National Working Committee (NWC) for what he described as the successful conduct of the party’s congresses and national convention, declaring that the outcome has positioned the party for greater electoral success.
Abiodun, who is also the Convener of the Kogi State Minority Interests Group, said the peaceful and inclusive manner in which the exercises were conducted reflects the APC’s growing democratic culture and institutional strength.
Speaking at a press conference in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, he noted that the party leadership demonstrated maturity by resolving internal disagreements and accommodating aggrieved members, thereby reinforcing unity within its ranks.
“The APC has once again shown that it is a truly democratic party. The ability to resolve internal issues amicably and carry everyone along speaks volumes about the leadership capacity within the party,” he said.
The APC stalwart emphasised that the outcome of the congresses has not only deepened internal democracy but also strengthened the party’s grassroots structure across the country, particularly in Kogi State.
He disclosed that minority groups in the state—comprising Ogori-Magongo, Bassa, Ibaji, Kogi, and Lokoja Local Government Areas—are now more politically mobilised and aligned with the party’s vision than ever before.
According to him, strategic steps have been taken to address the lapses observed during the last presidential and National Assembly elections, which he said gave the opposition an edge in some parts of the state.
“We have carefully studied what happened in the last elections, and I can confidently say that those loopholes have been effectively addressed. The level of mobilisation and unity we have now is unprecedented,” he stated.
Abiodun expressed optimism that the renewed cohesion within the APC, combined with increased grassroots engagement, would translate into overwhelming support for President Tinubu in future elections.
Reaffirming the commitment of minority communities to the party, he assured that Kogi State would deliver a resounding victory for the APC in the next general elections.
“Our people are fully on board. The minorities in Kogi State are more united and determined than ever to support the APC and President Tinubu. What lies ahead is a landslide victory,” he added.
Political observers note that the APC’s recent internal exercises have been closely watched as a test of the party’s cohesion ahead of future electoral contests. In Kogi State, where voting patterns have historically reflected a mix of ethnic and political interests, the consolidation of minority support blocs could prove decisive.
