The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government, congratulating Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.

Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love, as exemplified by Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings underpin the Christian faith.

He urged citizens to remain committed to the values of tolerance and unity that sustain the country’s diversity, stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence.

The minister reiterated that the Federal Government remains focused on policies aimed at national rebirth, economic growth and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

He also wished Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.

The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
