Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Greg Etafia has said that Stanley Nwabali already has several offers and is likely to join a new club at the end of the season.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Greg Etafia has said that Stanley Nwabali already has several offers and is likely to join a new club at the end of the season.

Nwabali left Chippa United by mutual agreement after the January transfer window, a move that surprised many fans.

Etafia, who has worked closely with him, explained that the goalkeeper wanted to leave earlier during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco but could not because his club did not approve the move.

Etafia said Nwabali told him he had many offers during the tournament but was unable to leave at the time due to club issues.

He added that while Nwabali was away, another goalkeeper, Dumisani Msibi, performed well, which also influenced the situation. In the end, both the player and the club agreed to part ways.

Etafia confirmed that Nwabali is currently waiting for the season to finish before deciding on his next club.

Nwabali was not included in the current Super Eagles squad, a decision Etafia said he found surprising, considering the goalkeeper’s contributions to the national team.

He explained that the goalkeepers invited are actively playing for their clubs, but believes Nwabali still deserved a place in the squad.

Since making his debut for Nigeria in 2024, Nwabali has won two AFCON medals.
