President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje as Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for a second and final term of five years.
Bugaje was first appointed on March 14, 2021, for an initial five-year tenure.
The renewal, according to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, followed a review of Bugaje’s performance, leadership record, and the transformation recorded in Nigeria’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sub-sector under his stewardship.
The statement noted that key achievements during his first term include the repositioning and strengthening of the country’s TVET ecosystem, comprehensive curriculum modernisation, and the development and review of 100 national curricula aligned with global skills demands.
President Tinubu urged the NBTE boss to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives in the sector during his second term.
The renewal aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda for education, which prioritises skills development and workforce readiness.
