Actress Damilola Adegbite explains why she has not remarried

Nigerian actress Damilola Adegbite has opened up on why she has not remarried since her first marriage ended, revealing that her child’s well-being remains her top priority.

In a video shared on Instagram, the Tinsel star explained that raising a child requires a different approach to relationships. “If you are a single mother or raising a child on your own, your decision-making has to be different. You are not just choosing a partner for yourself anymore, you are choosing a second parent for your child,” she said.

Adegbite added that love alone is not enough. “There is a deeper question — do they have the morals, the values, the character that I would like my child to grow up around? You have to be sure that the person you are bringing into your life is capable of being a good parent — someone who would treat your child like theirs,” she explained.

She further emphasised the importance of building a home, not just a relationship: “Choose wisely, not just for you, but for the life you are creating for your children.”

Damilola Adegbite was engaged to fellow actor Chris Attoh in August 2014, after meeting on the set of Tinsel. The couple welcomed their son, Brian, in September 2014, but news of their separation emerged in September 2017.
