Under this new policy, Africans traveling to Ghana can apply for an e-visa online at no cost. This is part of broader efforts to improve the country’s immigration system.
What the President said
Mahama explained that this move shows Ghana’s commitment to unity across Africa. He said the policy will begin on Africa Day, May 25, 2026.
He added that Ghana sees itself as a key supporter of African cooperation and wants to make travel easier for people across the continent.

Increase trade
Attract investors
Since taking office in 2025, Mahama said his government has signed 23 visa waiver agreements to make travel easier for Ghanaians as well.
He assured that proper systems are in place to manage more visitors and keep the country secure.
