Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan has criticised the lingering rivalry between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, saying the actresses should know better given their success and status in the film industry.
Speaking in an interview, Hassan said if both actresses “have sense,” they would realise how far they have come and avoid unnecessary conflict.
He stated that both Akindele and Abraham have been greatly favoured and have no justification to be embroiled in disputes.
The actor added that he does not interfere in issues involving women, noting that such disagreements often escalate beyond control.
He explained that situations men would easily overlook tend to become prolonged conflicts among women, making external intervention difficult.
“Something that will happen that men will just laugh over, if it happens to women, it is always worse than Hitler’s war, so it is hard for anybody to interfere. Any man who interferes is stupid,” he said.
Hassan stressed that both actresses have already attained enviable heights in Nollywood and should focus on sustaining their achievements rather than engaging in rivalry.
He expressed confidence that the dispute would eventually subside, as both parties come to terms with reality.
The latest chapter in the long-running drama unfolded at the glamorous premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s movie The Return of Arinzo on March 29, 2026.
A viral video captured an awkward moment where Funke Akindele appeared to snub Toyin Abraham’s greeting, sparking fresh accusations, unfollows on social media, and heated online debates.
Abraham reportedly posted and later deleted a strong statement vowing never to greet Funke again, while both actresses were said to have unfollowed each other on Instagram.
This incident has reignited years of speculation about professional jealousy between the two box-office heavyweights, who command massive fan bases, deliver consistent blockbusters, and rank among Nollywood’s most influential female stars.
Akindele is celebrated for her record-breaking comedies such as the Omo Ghetto franchise, while Toyin Abraham has built a formidable empire through her vibrant on-screen presence and production ventures.
