“Plateau must not bleed again,” Yilwatda says after visit to victims of Angwan Rukuba attacks

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Palm Sunday gunmen attack on Angwan Rukuba in Jos, Plateau State capital as painful, barbaric, and unacceptable.

Yilwatda said this after visiting some of the injured victims of the attack which claimed at least 28 lives at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) on Saturday morning.

The APC National Chairman who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Martina Yilwatda assured the victims and their families of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to protect lives and bring an end to the “senseless killings” in Plateau State.

He further described the attack as a “tragedy that must awaken all of us —leaders, communities, and citizens—to act with urgency, unity, and purpose,” while affirming that “Plateau must not bleed again.”

He said, “Earlier today, I paid a solemn visit to victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack receiving treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), .

“We stood with them in compassion and solidarity, sharing in their pain and reaffirming our collective responsibility to protect every Nigerian life.

“What happened in Angwan Rukuba is painful, barbaric, and unacceptable. It is a direct assault on our shared humanity. This must not become another normal story.

“I assured the victims and their families of the Federal Government’s firm resolve, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to protect lives and bring an end to these senseless killings.

“I also commiserated with families who lost their loved ones and prayed for strength and comfort in this difficult time.

“My sincere appreciation goes to the management and staff of JUTH for their swift and professional response in saving lives.

“This tragedy must awaken all of us—leaders, communities, and citizens—to act with urgency, unity, and purpose. Plateau must not bleed again,”

Recall that President Tinubu had on Tuesday charged security agencies to fish out killers involved in the Sunday night attacks in Angwan-Rukuba.

The President also called on stakeholders and citizens of the state to ensure that Plateau returned to the days when peace reigned.

The president, who further itemised some of his intents in tackling such attacks, pledged to provide and install a network of 5,000 cameras within the state that would aid law enforcement agencies carry out their duties effectively in forestalling future attacks.
