The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel across Abuja to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Easter celebration.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the deployment covers churches, recreational centres and other strategic locations, alongside operational assets to strengthen security across the territory.
She explained that the move forms part of proactive measures to reinforce ongoing policing efforts and guarantee the safety of residents and worshippers during the festive period.
According to her, the operation includes enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-driven surveillance, coordinated vehicular and foot patrols, as well as continuous monitoring to detect and prevent criminal activities.
Adeh added that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have also been mobilised to conduct routine sweeps of major public spaces and recreational centres to neutralise potential threats.
The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Mr Ahmed Sanusi, extended Easter greetings to Christians, urging residents to promote peace, unity and mutual respect throughout the celebrations.
He called on citizens to remain law-abiding and encouraged religious leaders to continue preaching tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Sanusi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during and after the Easter period, while also urging residents to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.
