Tinubu storms Ogun, vows to defeat terrorism, banditry

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling terrorism, kidnapping and banditry, declaring that Nigeria is firmly on the path to security and economic recovery.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport and other infrastructure projects in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, the President said his government remained determined to confront violent crimes undermining the nation’s stability.

Tinubu, who recently visited Plateau State to console victims of the Palm Sunday attack, stressed that his administration would continue to deploy resources and strengthen infrastructure to secure lives and property.

“We will overcome violence and terrorism,” he said, adding that ongoing investments in infrastructure and human capital were designed to secure long-term prosperity.

The President commended Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for what he described as prudent use of federal allocations, noting that the Gateway International Airport represents a major economic hub capable of boosting mobility, agriculture and security.

“Our investments are centred on our people today’s foundation will secure tomorrow’s prosperity,” Tinubu said.

In his remarks, Abiodun said the projects were driven by a commitment to national development, adding that the state would continue to align with the Federal Government’s economic reforms.

He described the airport as a key component of an emerging aerotropolis, equipped with modern aviation infrastructure and cargo facilities.

Also speaking, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended collaboration between the executive and legislature, noting that such synergy was critical to delivering developmental projects.

The event underscored ongoing efforts by both federal and state governments to strengthen infrastructure and security amid Nigeria’s evolving economic landscape.
