Christians have been asked to keep saying positive things about Nigeria, even though the country is facing economic problems and security challenges.
Apostle John Okoriko, founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State, gave this advice on Easter Sunday in Uyo during a monthly service called
“What You Say, You Become.” He said speaking positively does not stop people from giving constructive criticism about the government to encourage good governance.
Through the church’s Secretary General, Dr. Linus Uko Enang, Okoriko explained that negative words can harm the person who says them, as well as their family, community, and the nation.
He said words are powerful. In the Bible, God used words to create the world, and Jesus spoke about his resurrection even while he was suffering on the cross, and it happened. He encouraged people to say good things even during hard times.
Okoriko said, “Let the poor say ‘I am rich,’ and let the weak say ‘I am strong.’ What we say has power. We will answer for our words one day. I am not asking people to praise leaders unnecessarily, but be fair and constructive in criticism.”
He added that negative words can damage families and communities. He told Nigerians to stop speaking badly about the country because it can cause misfortune.
He also shared that one thief on the cross with Jesus was saved because of what he said, while the other was not.
Finally, he encouraged young people not to give up because of economic or social problems. By speaking positively, God can help them overcome difficulties
