The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Afolabi Odunsi, in a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta, said that eight others sustained injuries.
Odunsi said the accident involved a commercial Toyota HiAce bus with registration number AGL 789 YL, which occurred at 1: 30 a.m. on Sunday.
According to him, a total of 13 persons were involved in the accident, comprising 11 adult males and two adult females.
“Eight persons sustained injuries, including seven adult males and one adult female, while four adult males lost their lives in the crash,” he said.
Odunsi explained that preliminary investigation indicated that the accident was caused by a burst tyre and speed violation, which made the driver lose control of the vehicle.
He said that the FRSC rescue operatives from the Mowe Unit Command arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and carried out rescue operations.
The PRO added that the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital for medical treatment, while bodies of the dead were deposited at the Idera morgue.
He said that the vehicle and belongings of the passengers recovered had been handed over to the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Redeemed Police Station.
Odunsi said that the Ogun State Sector Commander, Mr. Akinwunmi Fasakin, commiserate with the families of the deceased. He urged motorists to obey speed limits and ensure their tyres were in good condition before embarking on any journey.
