UCL: PSG told to be wary of ‘wounded’ Liverpool

Quick Read

Liverpool will have former PSG player Hugo Ekitike, who has been performing well this season, while PSG may miss Fabian Ruiz and Bradley Barcola due to injuries. Manager Luis Enrique is confident in the depth of his squad

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha says his team will not underestimate Liverpool, even though the English club has been inconsistent recently, ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Speaking before the match at the Parc des Princes, Vitinha said Liverpool’s history and strength make them a tough opponent.

“Liverpool are Liverpool,” he said. “Even if they are not at their best, they are still a great team. We need to be 100% because it will be a very difficult match.”

The match brings back memories of last season when Liverpool beat PSG in the first leg in Paris, but PSG won at Anfield and advanced on penalties, eventually winning their first Champions League title.

Liverpool comes into this game under pressure. They lost 4–0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals and have only won one of their last five games, putting their top-four hopes at risk.

Vitinha said PSG learned lessons from last year’s games. “We played well in Paris but still lost. We believed we could win at Anfield, and we did. But this season is different, and the challenge is new.”
