Nigerian DJ sensation, Rachel Oluwabukola Martins, popularly Known as DJ Djdimplenipple, has opened up on what truly defines her artistry, revealing that beyond the beats and transitions, her focus is on reading emotions and creating unforgettable moments for her audience.

In a recent chat with reporters, the Lagos-based entertainer said her approach to DJing goes far deeper than simply playing popular songs, stressing that understanding the crowd’s mood is the real skill behind her rising success.

“Anyone can play music, but not everyone can feel a crowd,” she said. “For me, it’s about connection. I watch how people move, how they react, and I adjust my set to match their energy. That’s where the magic happens.”

Since starting her career in 2019, Djdimplenipple has steadily built a reputation for her engaging stage presence and ability to command attention. According to her, every performance is a unique experience shaped by the audience in front of her.

“No two crowds are the same,” she explained. “What works in a club might not work at a festival or a private event. So I don’t come with a fixed playlist — I come with a mindset to create a moment.”

A graduate of Rise Academy in South Africa, she credits her training for sharpening her technical skills, but insists that instinct and emotional intelligence play a bigger role when she’s on stage.

Her performance style — which has earned her the nickname “The Dancing DJ” — is built on expression, movement, and constant interaction with the crowd. She describes her sets as “live conversations” between her and the audience.

“I don’t hide behind the decks,” she said. “I move, I dance, I express. When people see that energy, it pulls them in. It makes them feel free.”

Her growing influence has seen her perform at top events including Warri Again, Okochiri Festivals, Tape Lagos, and Red Room, alongside several high-profile private gatherings. A recent UK tour further expanded her reach, introducing her vibrant style to international audiences.

Looking ahead, Djdimplenipple says her mission is to create experiences that stay with people long after the music stops.

“I want people to remember how they felt, not just what they heard,” she said. “If I can lift your mood, make you dance, and give you a moment of joy, then I’ve done my job.”
