Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, has spoken with Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, and offered help to reduce rising tensions in the Middle East.
The Kremlin said Putin is ready to support efforts to reach a peaceful and diplomatic solution and may help mediate talks for a lasting peace in the region.
This comes after talks between the United States and Iran failed. The US negotiation team reportedly left Islamabad after discussions did not make progress.
The US team included negotiators such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who all left after long but unsuccessful discussions about the conflict.
A US official also confirmed that no members of the team stayed behind for further negotiations.
Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said the United States failed to build trust during the talks. He said Iran made useful suggestions, but the US side did not convince Iran.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance was also mentioned in connection with the delegation’s travel stop in Germany during the process.
