In a bid to deepen leadership capacity and expand economic opportunities for women, MTN Nigeria has partnered with GAIA Africa to host a high-level C-suite networking session in Lagos.
The event, themed “Sharing Growth: An Evening of Relaxation & Reflection,” was held at GAIA Africa’s office in Victoria Island at the weekend and brought together top-tier female executives, founders, and boardroom leaders to mark Women’s Month while strengthening professional networks.
GAIA Africa, regarded as the continent’s first private members’ business club for elite female decision-makers, is focused on connecting the top five per cent of women across leadership and enterprise.
Speaking at the session, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, stressed the importance of collaboration and shared progress in driving individual success.
“At different points in our journeys, many of us have benefited from the support of another woman, whether through a recommendation, an opportunity, or advocacy in our absence,” she said, noting that such acts of support remain critical to advancing women in business.
Also addressing participants, Mena Imasekha, General Manager of GAIA Africa, encouraged attendees to embrace the value of connection and reflection, describing such moments as catalysts for innovation and long-term partnerships.
She said the informal exchanges that occur in such settings often spark transformative ideas and collaborations capable of reshaping industries.
Beyond the networking session, stakeholders underscored the need to sustain advocacy for women’s advancement beyond symbolic celebrations, calling for continuous recognition and support throughout the year.
MTN Nigeria noted that women currently occupy over 40 per cent of its leadership roles, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to gender inclusion and diversity.
