American singer Sabrina Carpenter has addressed her viral reaction towards a fan voicing an Arabic celebration call during the singer’s set at Coachella 2026.

The artist who was criticised for calling a fan who let out an Arabic celebration call, known as a Zaghourta, “weird”, apologised for her statement.

Sabrina explained that her reaction was out of pure confusion, stressing that she did not mean anything by her comments which people labelled as offensive.

“My apologies i didn’t see this person with my eyes and couldn’t hear clearly. My reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended. could have handled it better!. Now i know what a Zaghrouta is, I welcome all cheers and yodels from here on out,” she wrote on her X handle.

The Zaghrouta is a yell often used by women in the Middle East and North Africa. It is commonly done during celebrations, such as weddings and parties.
