Bayern Munich booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after edging Real Madrid 4-3 in a dramatic second-leg quarter-final clash on Tuesday night.

The German giants progressed 6-4 on aggregate, having taken a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, in a pulsating encounter that delivered goals, drama and late controversy.

The match exploded into life early when Real Madrid capitalised on a defensive error to take the lead through Arda Güler in the opening minute. However, Bayern responded swiftly, with Aleksandar Pavlovic heading home from a corner to level the score.

Madrid regained control midway through the first half when Güler curled in a stunning free-kick to make it 2-1, before Kylian Mbappé extended the lead with a clinical finish, putting the visitors in a strong position at 3-2 on the night.

But Bayern refused to fold.

Harry Kane drew the hosts level at 2-2 before the break, and the momentum swung decisively in their favour after the interval as they piled pressure on the Madrid defence.

The second half produced relentless attacking football from both sides, with chances coming thick and fast. Madrid threatened through Vinícius Júnior and Mbappé, while Bayern’s forward line continued to test the visitors’ resilience.

Eduardo Camavinga, who came in as substitute was sent off after a second yellow card given the host ample opportunity to take advantage of the game.

The drama intensified late on when Luis Díaz restored parity at 3-3, setting up a tense finale inside the Allianz Arena.

With the tie hanging in the balance, Bayern delivered the decisive blow in stoppage time as Michael Olise fired home off the post after a precise assist from Kane, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.

Real Madrid’s frustrations boiled over in the closing moments, with Arda Güler sent off after the final whistle for dissent, compounding a bitter night for the Spanish side.
