Dickson’s name will also be entered into the Lagos State Sex Offenders Register, in accordance with Sections 33 and 38 of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law, 2021.

Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday, April 13, 2026, sentenced Victor Dickson to life imprisonment for defiling his neighbour’s six-month-old child.

Dickson’s name will also be entered into the Lagos State Sex Offenders Register, in accordance with Sections 33 and 38 of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law, 2021.

Delivering judgment, Justice Oshodi held that the prosecution had proven the charge of sexual assault by penetration beyond reasonable doubt, citing compelling circumstantial evidence. The judge dismissed the convict’s attempts to distance himself from the crime as unconvincing.

The court described the victim as extremely vulnerable, recounting the mother’s testimony that Dickson took the baby into his room while she was outside washing clothes and assaulted her.

“You betrayed the trust reposed in you. The child cried throughout but could not call for help,” Justice Oshodi said.
“Such acts are animalistic, and the sentence serves to protect society and deter similar crimes.”

The offense contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The court emphasized the need to break the culture of silence surrounding sexual offences against children.
