Personnel are to work in synergy with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective security at examination centres, surrounding areas and access routes,” he said.

Police Security has been tightened across Lagos State as candidates sit for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, with police authorities rolling out monitoring measures at designated centres.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, directed officers to be stationed at approved venues to oversee the conduct of the examination, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.

The exercise, organised nationwide by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, runs from 16 to 25 April.

Police authorities said the deployment aligns with operational guidance issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at safeguarding candidates and maintaining order throughout the examination period.

Tijani explained that officers have been instructed to ensure a calm and secure atmosphere at centres while remaining alert to any misconduct.

“Officers deployed for the exercise have been instructed to maintain professionalism, civility and vigilance, while taking firm action against examination malpractice, disorderly conduct or any form of security breach.

“Personnel are to work in synergy with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective security at examination centres, surrounding areas and access routes,” he said.

He appealed to candidates, parents and guardians to cooperate fully with security personnel and comply with all examination rules to ensure a smooth process.

The commissioner reiterated the command’s resolve to protect lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements.

“Report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870 and 09168630929,” he said.
