A coalition of Youths in Kanam Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau has declared support for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Caleb Mutfwang ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mr Sadiq Kwaltommai, Chairman of the coalition stated this during a press conference on Thursday in Dengi, the headquarters of Kanam LGA.

The chairman said that the endorsement was based on the sterling performance of the president and the governor.

Kwaltommai commended the president for stabilising the economy, tackling insecurity and addressing infrastructure deficit in the country.

The chairman disclosed that the endorsement by the youths followed a proper consultation across the 20 wards of Kanam.

“Our endorsement is premised on the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of the president, where our economy is stabilising, insecurity is being tackled head-on and improved critical infrastructure across the country.

“We commend the president for his courage in taking tough but necessary decisions, his support to sub-nationals through increased allocations and his commitment to completing legacy projects that will open up Northern Nigeria in particular.

“As beneficiaries of a stable federation, the youths of Kanam believe continuity under Tinubu will consolidate these reforms for the good of all Nigerians.

“Also, for obvious reasons, we declare that Gov. Caleb Mutfwang has passed the test of leadership and so the youths of Kanam will work day and night to ensure he is relected in 2027,”he said.

Kwaltommai also appealed to all political parties to zone the senate seat for Plateau Central to Kanam in the spirit of fairness.

He argued that since the return of democracy in 1999, Kanam has not produced a senator for the zone.

“Since 1999, Kanam is the only LGA in Plateau central that has not produced a senator.

“Worthy of note that as at today, Kanam have over 132,000 registered voters, making it the second with the highest votes in the entire senatorial zone.

“We are not in contention with our brothers from Mangu, Bokkos, Pankshin or Kanke LGAs; we have supported, voted and celebrated with them in past.

“But equity demands that power must rotate for the sake of unity and belongingness, “he said.
