Nigerian media personality, Chude Jideonwo has spoken up on his battle with an incurable neurodevelopmental condition medically known as Tourette Syndrome.

The filmmaker, while speaking with BBC News Africa, revealed that he was diagnosed in his early 20s, but was advised to keep it a secret to avoid being profiled.

Chude explained that patients living with Tourette Syndrome in Africa often get judged and stereotyped because of the lack of education on the condition.

“When I was diagnosed, my doctor warned me not to talk about it in public that people are going to judge me. Especially in Africa. I began to consciously notice Tourette Syndrome in my late 20s. It is a neurological where it feels like your body misfires,” he said.
